Plentitude Church marker reads:
In 1928, Mr. and Mrs. T. Hunt Taylor, Gray Baptist Church members, saw the need to spread the gospel to the Plentitude community located nine miles west of Gray. They sought permission from the local School Board and began teaching Sunday School at Plentitude School. The school building had accommodated several non-denominational services through the years. Built in 1868 the small one-room building originally served as the Plentitude Academy. A revival was held during the week of August 25-29 and 2 people made a profession of faith and were baptized in Walnut Creek. The congregation had been serving as an arm of Gray Baptist Church, in name only, and had received permission to receive and baptize members. On October 26, 1928, Rev. J.R. Meek was called as the first pastor. On July 24,1936 the church was organized as an independent body, forming Plentitude Missionary Baptist Church. The Taylors became active members of the church and served it faithfully until their deaths.
